This concert was awesome. I had the privlige of meeting the bands manager, David Bendett, during the sound-check, who introduced me to Bela after I had been talking to Victor. Jake Shimabukuro was the guest performer and opening act, and I sat in the very front row with my sister and some of our neighbors and friends during the incredible show. Looking up as Futureman plays the synth-axe drumitar over you is pretty amazing stuff, as is Jeff playing two saxiphones at the same time for his own harmonies. The bands 'one man horn section' as one of the guys put it. Not only did the band do a number of great songs, they also had a number of unique little humorous skits that they did during some songs, such as messing with eachothers tuning and slapping 'guitar' necks. There was also a very interesting jam where Futureman was doing a vocal skat, which Bela would sample and jam back using the banjo as a MIDI sample controller. Best of all, not only was the band extremely talented, they were also very friendly, signing autographs and posing for pictures for quite a while afterwards. All in all, quite an excellent night!

I was lucky enough to have not one, but two friends with cameras at the show -- Brandon Apeles of Second City Entertainment took the excellent shots of the bandmembers and myself, while my friend Chris took the shot of my sister and I with Vic and Jeff, as well as the other shots of the concert. She also recorded part of the concert on her miniDisc unit, and was kind enough to loan the player to me so I could make a copy. I have uploaded MP3 and FLAC files, so be sure to check out the pictures and the music here! A little birdy told me that there was some jamming going on in the hotel room that night, and that Jake was invited, and that we might be hearing some of that on the next Flecktones album! Cool
